Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using Xrate2send to compare money transfer providers.
How does Xrate2send work?
We fetch pricing data from 8 licensed money transfer providers every 6 hours. For each corridor (e.g., USD → ETB), we show you the fee, exchange rate, and total amount your recipient gets — ranked from best to worst deal. You pick the provider and go directly to their site to send.
Is Xrate2send free to use?
Yes, completely free. We earn money through affiliate commissions — when you click through to a provider and complete a transfer, we may receive a referral fee. This is at no extra cost to you.
Why do providers show different exchange rates?
Each provider adds a markup to the mid-market (real) exchange rate. Some charge higher fees but give a better rate, while others advertise "zero fees" but compensate with a worse rate. That's why we rank by total value received, not by fee alone.
Is "zero fee" really free?
Not always. Providers with zero transfer fees often make money on the exchange rate markup instead. A "free" transfer with a bad rate can cost more than one with a small fee but a better rate. Always compare the total amount your recipient gets.
How do I know these providers are legitimate?
Every provider on Xrate2send is licensed by the receiving country's financial regulator — for example, the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), Reserve Bank of India (RBI), or Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). We verify licensing before listing any provider. Each destination page links to the regulator's official registry.
How often are rates updated?
Every 6 hours. Each comparison page shows exactly when the data was last updated. Actual rates may differ slightly — always confirm the final rate on the provider's site before sending.
Which countries can I send from?
Our providers support sending from the USA, UK, Canada, most EU countries (Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, etc.), Australia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Israel, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan. Coverage varies by provider and destination.
Which countries can I send to?
We currently cover 14 destinations: Ethiopia, India, Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Somalia, Eritrea, Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Mexico, and Vietnam. More destinations are added regularly.
What delivery methods are available?
It depends on the destination. Common options include bank deposit, mobile wallet (Telebirr, M-Pesa, GCash, bKash, MTN MoMo), and cash pickup. Each comparison page shows which delivery methods each provider supports for that destination.
What's the cheapest way to send money to Ethiopia?
Dahabshiil and TapTap Send typically offer the best USD → ETB rates. For SEK → ETB, TalkRemit and TapTap Send are usually cheapest. Rates change frequently, so check our live comparison before each transfer.
What's the cheapest way to send from Sweden to Ethiopia?
TalkRemit (Dahabshiil group) and TapTap Send consistently offer the best SEK → ETB rates. Both have zero or low fees. Dahabshiil is also competitive with strong community trust.
What's the difference between Wise and Remitly?
Wise uses the real mid-market rate with a transparent percentage fee. Remitly marks up the rate but often has lower fees and more delivery options (mobile wallets, cash pickup). Remitly is usually better for fast, small transfers; Wise for transparency and larger bank transfers.
What is Telebirr and how do I send to it?
Telebirr is Ethiopia's largest mobile wallet (40+ million users) run by Ethio Telecom. Remitly, WorldRemit, and TapTap Send all support Telebirr delivery — your recipient gets the money instantly on their phone.
Does Xrate2send collect my personal data?
No. We don't collect names, emails, IP addresses, or financial information. We don't use tracking cookies. When you click through to a provider, their privacy policy applies.
Do your affiliate partnerships affect the rankings?
No. Providers are ranked by the total value the recipient receives (amount after fees and exchange rate). We do not accept payment to change rankings. We include providers without affiliate programs when they offer competitive rates.
Can I get notified when rates change?
Yes — sign up for our rate alerts on the homepage. We'll email you when rates improve for your corridor.
Why is the rate I see on the provider's site different?
Exchange rates change constantly. We update every 6 hours, so there may be a small difference between our snapshot and the live rate. The amount, payment method, and delivery option you choose can also affect the final rate. Always confirm before sending.
